Principle of Operation

The tester features a grooved end with a rectangular opening measuring 0.04 inches wide and 0.045 inches long. Two reference sizes are inserted into the sensing head, with a depth of 0.015 inches from the tip of the test. The sensor head can overcome the elastic force of a 0.5-pound spring, causing it to move an additional 0.005 inches, confirming the sharp point.

Requirements

The Sharp Point Tester Testing Machine ensures that the slot opening is not more than 0.040×0.045 inches, the touch depth is not less than 0.015 inches, and the force applied is not more than 1 pound.

Testing Method

1. The Cusp Tester Calibration Program
   1. Rotate/release/lock the ring clockwise.
   2. Turn the tail cover clockwise until the red indicator light is on.
   3. Slightly turn the tail cover counterclockwise until the indicator light goes out.
   4. Rotate the tail cover forward/backward to determine the exact position when the indicator light just lights up.
   5. Mark the calibration position with reference to the micrometer scale line on the tail cover.
   6. Turn the tail cap counterclockwi***y 5 scale marks.
   7. Tighten the lock ring until it is close to the tail cover.
2. Cusp Test Program
   1. Ensure the sample is placed in an environment with a room temperature of 23±2°C and a humidity of 20% to 70% for 4 hours before the sharp point test.
   2. Insert the tip into the measuring slot of the sharp point tester, hold the test object, and apply a force of 1LBS (4.5N) vertically and freely, passing the measuring slot to the test tip.

Judgment: If the test light is on, the test object is deemed unqualified (not sharp).
